What we store
- Account data: your email address, your display name if you give one, a hashed password (never the password itself) and the date you registered.
- Credit ledger: every credit movement with a timestamp and a short reason, so your balance can always be explained and audited.
- Payment records: the pack you bought, the amount, and the PayPal reference you submit. We do not see or store card numbers — PayPal handles the payment.
- Lookup cache: short-lived results of registry lookups, plus a daily counter of guest runs tied to an IP address to enforce the free daily limit.
- Newsletter: your email and confirmation status, if you choose to subscribe.
Cookies
We set one first-party session cookie so you stay signed in, and it is marked HttpOnly and SameSite. We do not run advertising pixels and we do not sell data. No analytics profile is built about you on this site.
Who else is involved
- PayPal processes payments — their own privacy policy applies to that transaction.
- Public registries are queried server-side to answer availability and registration questions; we send the domain name and nothing about you.
- Email delivery is handled by our own mail server for receipts, confirmations and replies.
Retention and your rights
Account and ledger records are kept while your account is open so your balance stays provable. You can ask us to export or delete your account at any time by contacting us; deletion removes your account data and unsubscribes you from the newsletter, while anonymised payment records may be retained where accounting rules require it.
Credits and refunds
- Credits never expire and are only spent when a live lookup runs.
- If a lookup fails on our side, the credits are returned to your balance automatically.
- Unused credits are refundable within 14 days of purchase — contact us with the PayPal reference and we will refund the unused portion.
- Free tools are free forever; no purchase is needed to use them.
Accuracy of data
Availability, age and registrar details come from the official registries at the moment you run a check. Registry data can lag reality by minutes, and a name can be registered by someone else in between: always confirm at your registrar before paying for a domain. Scores and price bands produced by the toolkit are research estimates, not appraisals or guarantees.
